29th European Conference on Operational Research EURO 2018

July 8 - 11, 2018

Location: Valencia, Spain

Researchers, academics, practitioners, and students interested in any branch of Operational Research, mathematical modelling or economic analysis are invited to submit abstracts or organize sessions.
Abstract submission system is available online, via the Conference web page (https://www.euro-online.org/conf/euro29/).

Researchers who wish to organize a stream or an invited session or contribute with a paper within an invited session should contact a Programme Committee member of the corresponding area.

This PhD School is leading up to and includes the 2nd Conference of the EURO Working Group on Sustainable Supply Chains.

Topics

  • Concepts and models for Sustainable Supply Chains: multi-criteria decision making, trade-offs between economic, environmental and social objectives
  • Inter- and multidisciplinary approaches, e.g. combining optimization, simulation, and information management for life cycle assessment, development of sustainable business models,
  • Specific characteristics of e.g. bio-based SCs, closed-loop SCs, food SCs, automotive SCs.

2nd PhD Award Winner

The EWG on Sustainable Supply Chains awards the price for an outstanding PhD Thesis 2017 in the field of Sustainable Supply Chains to Mehmet Soysal for his thesis on “Decision Support Modeling for Sustainable Food
Logistics Management”.

The thesis was accepted at the Wageningen University and was supervised by Prof. Dr. J.G.A.J. van der Vorst and Prof. Dr. J.M. Bloemhof-Ruwaard.

We thank the members of the PhD Award Committee: Erwin van der Laan (chair, RSM Erasmus University, the Netherlands), Martin Grunow (Technical University of Munich, TUM School of Management, Germany) and Ana Paula Ferreira Dias Barbosa-Póvoa (University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior Técnico, Portugal).

The award is announced every second year, the next round will be in 2019.

EURO PhD School on Sustainable Supply Chains 2016

We would like to invite you to apply for the EURO PhD School on Sustainable Supply Chains to be held in Koblenz and Aachen, Germany, on June 26th to July 2nd, 2016. The school aims at training PhD students in the area of Sustainable Supply Chains and is organized with the financial support of the Association of European Operational Research Societies (EURO).

Eligibility: Participants have to be from a EURO member society country or studying in an EURO member society country. They have to be enrolled in a PhD program and, preferably, in the early stages of their studies. A maximum number of 30 participants will be accepted (selected by the organizing committee).

Notification of acceptance: February 29th, 2016

ECTS credits: 3 ECTS for attending the school (50 hours: classes 3h/day, supervised training 2h/day, supervised work on case studies 3 h/day) + 2 ECTS (voluntary) for either a paper to be discussed with lecturers of the school or a poster to be presented.

Registration fee: 150 Euros (covers accommodation in a twin room, meals, social activities and travel within school activities). The EWG-SustSC will cover the registration fee for two students.

Call for Papers: 1st Conference on Sustainable Supply Chains

We would like to invite you to submit abstracts for presentations for the 1st Conference on Sustainable Supply Chains (SustSC 2016) to be held in Aachen, Germany, July 1st to 2nd, 2016 with a kickoff-meeting June 30th. The SustSC 2016 is organized by the EURO Working Group on Sustainable Supply Chains (EWG-SustSC) in cooperation with the Chair of Operations Management at RWTH Aachen University and sponsored by the Association of European Operational Research Societies (EURO).

Purpose: The purpose of the SustSC 2016 Conference is to offer the European and international SustSC community opportunities to present state-of-the-art developments and to discuss current challenges in Sustainable Supply Chains. We want to attract researchers and practitioners interested in the implementation of Sustainable Supply Chains.

Research: We invite researchers to present state of the art research and innovative approaches for Sustainable Supply Chain Management. We are looking for papers tackling methodologies as well as applications for Sustainable Supply Chains.

Industry: There will be presentations from industry illustrating the current challenges and approaches for Sustainability in Supply Chains. The cases will be discussed in interactive breakout sessions.

Best Paper Award 2016: All presentations and papers of the SustSC 2016 will be considered for the “EWG-SustSC Best Paper Award 2016” that will be awarded for the first time aiming at motivating young researchers to submit and present their work at the SustSC Conference.
